Tubby Clayton

C.of E. clergyman and founder of Toc H. Born Australia, but his family returned to England the next year so he was brought up here. While serving as an army chaplain in WW1 he created a soldiers club, Talbot House the first Toc H. In 1923 he was appointed to All Hallows by the Tower where he remained as vicar until 1963. 1933 he was a founder of the Tower Hill Improvement Trust. This became the spiritual centre of Toc H. Died at his home on Tower Hill.
