Princess Royal, Princess Mary, Countess of Harewood, Viscountess Lascelles

Categories: Royalty

Third child and only daughter of King George V and Queen Mary. Born York Cottage, Sandringham Estate. Her elder brothers became, in quick succession, Edward VIII and George VI. She married the sixth Earl of Harewood, Viscount Lascelles in 1922. Promoted and supported nursing during and after WW1, even working at Great Ormond Street at one time. Died at Harewood House.

Our rather murky picture shows the Princess visiting the Foundling School at St Anne's, Redhill. There is another picture of her on Woodrow Wilson's page.
