Scouting for Boys

A book on boy scout training written by Robert Baden-Powell. It was originally published in six fortnightly instalments and contained information on 'self-survival', based on his boyhood experiences and his military career. It also promoted the merits of 'good-citizenship' and patriotism. Some of the advice in the early editions reflected Baden-Powell's supposed sexual repression, with information teaching adolescents how to control their lust; including 'periodically dipping your “racial organ” in ice-cold water'!
