Ron Greenwood

Footballer and football manger. Born at 15 Lennox Street, Worsthorne. near Burnley, Lancashire. As a centre-half he played for various clubs including Brentford and Fulham. After retiring from playing he went on to coach at Eastbourne United and West Ham. He was appointed manager of the England football team in 1977 and in his tenure, he selected the first black footballer to play for the squad. He died in The Beeches residential home, Ixworth, Suffolk.
