Lincoln Stanhope Wainright

Categories: Religion

He came to St Peter's Church, London Docks in 1873, and devoted himself to providing the local people with schools, clubs and medical facilities. On one occasion he gave away his own clothes to a needy parishioner. His surname is misspelt on this stained glass window, and also on the plaque outside St Peter's church, or they are right and all the other references on the web are wrong.

2023: Chris Little took the trouble to send us  this link: Father Wainright - A Record. This convinces us that his surname did indeed have this unusual spelling.
