Donald Potter

Born Donald Steele Potter at Parsonage House, Newington, Kent. He became a permanent member of staff at the Scouting Association's Gilwell Park where he developed his wood carving skills. In the 1930s he studied sculpture under Eric Gill. As a teacher at Bryanston School in Dorset, he inspired many of his pupils including Terence Conran. He died in Blandford Hospital, Blandford Forum, Dorset. Potter (on the right) is pictured with Baden-Powell.
