Businessman and historian. Born 25 Tottenham Place. 1864 joined A & F Pears as a bookkeeper and then married F. Pears's eldest daughter the next year.

Historian of Hampstead, author of the 3 volume 1912 'Annuls of Hampstead'. Chairman in Pears, the soap manufacturers. Referred to as "the father of modern advertising" he was responsible for using the Bubbles picture in a Pears advertising campaign. The picture source website gives the details.
