Sir Thomas Hallifax

Politician. Born in Barnsley. 1753 was one of the three founders of what became Glyn, Mills & Co. Bank. Lord Mayor of London 1776 - 1777, and Member of Parliament for Coventry and then Aylesbury. Died at his apartment above the banking house in Birchin Lane.
