Anglican bishop. Born Arthur Mervyn Stockwood in Bridgend, Wales. He was ordained as a deacon in 1936 and a priest in 1937. Appointed Bishop of Southwark in 1959.

The current church was built in 1874, destroyed by enemy action on 16 April 1941, and rebuilt by 1955.
