Mehdi El-Wahabi

Categories: Tragedy

Mehdi El-Wahabi was born on 22 February 2009, the youngest of the three children of Abdulaziz El-Wahabi (1964- 2017) and Faouzia El-Wahabi née Rami (b. circa 1975).

He had two siblings, His brother Yasin El-Wahabi who had been born on 9 August 1996 and his sister, Nur Huda El-Wahabi, who had been born on 27 June 2001. The family lived in Flat 182, Grenfell Tower, Grenfell Walk, London, W11 1TG.

He died, aged 8 years, together with his parents and siblings in the Grenfell Tower tragedy on 14 June 2017. At the subsequent inquiry it was said that the family lived on the 21st floor and that they had tried to escape down the stairwell but were forced back up, along with many others, by the dense smoke.

The Find a Grave website claims that he and his family are buried in the Gardens of Peace Muslim Cemetery, 57 Elmbridge Road, Ilford, IG6 3SW. The website gives much information about this schoolboy.
