2020: Shortly after publishing this memorial we were contacted by Ian Parr: "Charlton War Memorial The J. Parr commemorated on the Navy panel is I believe my great-grandfather, James Edward Arthur Parr 1878-1914 who lived on Woolwich Road Charlton. He went down with HMS Hawke 15th October 1914. He was known in the Navy as Arthur and is listed on CWGC as A. Parr." Thank you, Ian.
