Stephen John Fry

Actor, broadcaster, comedian, director, narrator and writer with professional name Stephen Fry. Born on 24 August 1957, the second of the three children of Alan John Fry (1930-2019) and Marianne Eve Fry neé Newman (b.1932). His birth was registered in 3rd quarter of 1957 in the Hampstead Registration District, London. His two siblings are: Roger M. Fry (b.1955) and Joanna R. Fry (b.1964).

On television he was in the very popular 'A Bit of Fry and Laurie' comedy shows (with Hugh Laurie) and appeared in the 'Blackadder' series. He also hosted the comedy quiz show 'QI'. His many film appearances include the title role in 'Wilde'. He also carried out the mammoth task of recording all the Harry Potter novels. He has bipolar disorder, and, early in his career, while appearing in the west end play 'Cell Mates' he had a nervous breakdown and walked out of the show and contemplated suicide. As an author he has written many books, including three volumes of his autobiography.
