Tony Meehan

Drummer. Born Daniel Joseph Anthony Meehan at the New End Hospital, Hampstead. He was one of the original line-up of Cliff Richard's backing group, The Shadows. He left the group in 1961 and eventually teamed up with another former member, guitarist Jet Harris, with whom he had several hit singles. In the 1990s he quit the music industry and in a change of career became a lecturer in psychology. Died in St Mary's Hospital, Paddington after a fall at his home.
