Designed by J H Evins.

A Facebook contact gave us some additional information about the people mentioned here - see Ann Crump's entry for this. The census returns suggest that Crump, Pearce and Chamberlain shared a household for over 30 years. See Chamberlain's page to see what a crime magnet he was.

Site: South End Green fountain (1 memorial)

NW3, South End Green

This traffic island and fountain underwent extensive renovations in 2007. The fountain provided water in October 2007 for the first time in 20 years, but in 2014 we read that the Council have decided that maintenance is too expensive and it will be turned off.   That's OK - we can all buy plastic bottles of water instead, no problem. Now the South End Green Association is hoping to find volunteers to maintain the fountain.

2021: Once again the fountain is being cleaned and restored. This time, although they would like the water to flow again, the campaigners are more focussed on the island being less traffic-bound and thus more accessible to children etc. so it can be used by the community.
