Mortlake Tapestry Works

Inscription

Site of the Lower Dutch House, part of the Mortlake Tapestry Works, 1619 - 1703.

Site: Mortlake Tapestry Works (1 memorial)

SW14, Tapestry Court

Interesting that a plaque has been erected to the Mortlake Tapestry Works but not to John Dee, who was (what we would now call) scientific adviser to Queen Elizabeth I, and who lived on this site from 1566 until his death in 1608. The tapestry works took over the site shortly after his death.
