Aesculus Indica (Indian Horse Chestnut) planted by Hugh Jenkins, MP, Minister for the Arts, on 17th May 1974, in memory of Lilian Baylis C.H. (1874 - 1937).
This stone was placed here by the Vic-Wells Association on the 25th November 1987, the fiftieth anniversary of her death.

The quotations are from Gibran's The Prophet. The tree is decorated with plastic jewellery and key-rings, many with "Stephanie" or "Penny".
To commemorate International Year of Peace, 1986, this field maple tree was planted by The League of Jewish Women, Wednesday 2nd July 1986.
