Yasin El-Wahabi

Categories: Tragedy

Yasin El-Wahabi was born on 9 August 1996 in St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, the eldest of the three children of Abdulaziz El-Wahabi (1964- 2017) and Faouzia El-Wahabi née Rami (b. circa 1975).

Shortly after he was born the family moved into Flat 182, Grenfell Tower, Grenfell Walk, London, W11 1TG, as council tenants. He had two siblings, his sister, Nur Huda El-Wahabi, who was born on 27 June 2001 and his brother, Mehdi El-Wahabi, who was born on 22 February 2009.

He died, aged 20 years, together with his parents and siblings in the Grenfell Tower tragedy on 14 June 2017. At the subsequent inquiry it was said that the family lived on the 21st floor and that he was returning home from work when he saw the tower in flames. He raced back into the building to save his family but was unable to do anything. The entire family perished in the blaze.

The Find a Grave website claims that he and his family are buried in the Gardens of Peace Muslim Cemetery, 57 Elmbridge Road, Ilford, IG6 3SW. The website gives much information about this man.
