Group    From 1887

Time and Talents

Community group. It originated with a group of committed Christian women who deplored the waste and futility of the protected lives of the majority of young girls who were only expected to be decorative and obedient. Their ambition was to help girls of leisure and education use their time and talents in the service of others. Its headquarters were located in Bermondsey Street for many years, moving to the current site in 1980.

Violet Alice Tritton worked for many years at the Dockhead branch. Women and the Settlement Movement by By Katherine Bentley Beauman has more information.
