Sir Henry Cooper

Categories: Sport / Games

Heavyweight boxer. Born in Lambeth. Affectionately known as 'Our 'Enery', he started his boxing career as an amateur in 1949. After turning professional, he went on to become British, European and Commonwealth champions. Most famously remembered for knocking down Cassius Clay. After retiring from the sport, he went on to develop a career as a television personality. He is credited with removing the 'effeminate' taint from men's after-shave, when he advertised Brut, with the 'Splash it all over' slogan. Knighted 2000.
