Robin Blair Larkey was born on 24 December 1952 in Ilford, Essex. He was the son of Blair Kenneth Larkey (1925-1991) and Olive Joan Larkey née Driscoll (1931-2016). 

In September 1987 he married Tracy Anne Hilton and the marriage was registered in the Surrey, South Eastern registration district. They had three children, Nicholas Blair Larkey b.1988 and Oliver Robin Larkey b.1989 were born in Surrey, whilst William Larkey b.1999 was born in the USA.

He was a foreign currency exchange broker working for Cantor Fiitzgerald, the American financial services firm and the family lived in Chatham, New Jersey, USA.

He died, aged 48 years, on 11 September 2001 on the 105th Floor, North Tower, 1 World Trade Centre, Manhattan, New York, USA.
