Purley air crash

Categories: Tragedy, Transport

A de Havilland DH.34 G-EBBX of Imperial Airways, which had only just taken off from Croydon Airport bound for Paris, crashed at Purley in Surrey. All seven passengers and the pilot were killed.  A subsequent inquest found that the aircraft crashed due to an unknown mechanical defect, and had stalled whilst an emergency landing was being attempted.
