Karlie Barbara Rogers was born on 30 May 1975 in Somerset and her birth was registered in the Yeovil registration district. She was the younger daughter of Keith J. Rogers (b.1951) and Angela E. Rogers née Hoare (b.1951), her elder sister, Kirstie Elizabeth Rogers having been born in 1973.

She graduated from Sussex University in 1997 with a degree in German.

She was a divisional sponsership manager with the Risk Waters Group and was attending their conference in the Windows on the World Restaurant on the 106th Floor, North Tower, 1 World Trade Centre, Manhattan, New York, USA, when she died, aged 26 years, on 11 September 2001.
