Built in 1876 to house the Greenwich Department of Works, West Greenwich House was designed by William Wallen and was officially opened on 25 April 1877.
It became the first Greenwich Town Hall in 1900, but in 1939 that function moved out to a purpose-built structure in Royal Hill.
West Greenwich House was badly damaged by a bomb on 12 July 1944 - we assume that's when the portico and dome were lost. It is now the Greenwich West Community & Arts Centre.
(In 1965 Greenwich moved its town hall again, into the rather splendid Woolwich Town Hall.)
2024: Londonist reported that the 1930s town hall in Royal Hill is set to become flats, with a viewing gallery.
