Philosopher and sociologist. Born Helsinki. Learnt English in order to read Darwin and others. Came to England in 1897 and frequently thereafter. His research into reverse sexual imprinting (basically, not fancying a sibling) means that it is now known as the Westermarck effect. Died in southern Finland.
