Edward George Brown Greenoff

From Alamy: "PC 389K Edward George Brown Greenoff was on duty outside the Silvertown munitions factory ... when a devastating fire broke out. ... The policeman remained at his post to warn others of the dangers, as the explosion was imminent. ... "

Dates from Find a Grave. Born Kentish Town and died in Poplar, 9 days after his heroic acts at the Silvertown explosion.

London Walking Tours have a good page about Greenoff with a moving description of his funeral procession.  The Newcastle Journal of 28 March 1917 is reported, announcing the Edward Medal for Angel and Wenborn and the King's Police Medal for Greenoff.
