Pianist and writer on music. Born in Strasbourg. He studied at the Leipzig Conservatoire, and moved to London in 1869 where he achieved great success performing the works of Beethoven and Chopin. Founded the London Wagner Society in 1872. Died at his home Chester Studio, Gerald Road, Pimlico.
