Royal Engineer killed by an exploding bomb while assisting in the attempt to disarm it.

Andrew Behan has kindly carried out some research on this man: John M Lauchlan was born about 1920 the son of Robert and Agnes Irvine Lauchlan. He was a Driver in the Royal Engineers, 5 Bomb Disposal Coy. Service No:2010665 and was killed on 13 December 1940, aged 20 years, during an attempt to defuse an unexploded bomb which had fallen at 590 Romford Road, Manor Park. He is buried in Grave No.68, Section P. at Kilmarnock Cemetery, East Ayrshire, Scotland. His grave.
