Later he gave it to Glamorgan County Council, but there was a fire and it is now a ruin. Director of Barclays Bank Ltd 1938-72; Phoenix Assurance Co Ltd 1940-72; JP 1932-67, High Sheriff, Freeman of Neath 1939, Freeman of Port Talbot 1952; K St J; Sub-Prior Order of St John for Wales."

It was created on 9 July 1958 for the Welsh businessman David Evans-Bevan. As of 2010 the title is held by his son, the second Baronet, who succeeded in 1973."
