Died as a result of serving in the Indian War 1857-8. HM 37th Regiment. From Westminster Abbey we learn that there is a stone to Bedford in St Margaret's Church Westminster: "In memory of Louis Henry Bedford, Captain in Her Majesty's 37th Regiment. Born 7th June 1819, killed on the 27th March 1858 in a sortie from the entrenchments at Azimghur in the East Indies". He was educated at Westminster School, as was his brother George Sale Bedford (1816-70), and was son of George Bedford of Bedford Row in London, solicitor, and his second wife Harriet daughter of Colonel Sale.
