American International Church

Categories: Religion

Countries: USA

During WW2 Americans in London worshipped at the Grosvenor Chapel. The congregation was relaunched in 1969 as the American Church and after using various church buildings it moved to the Whitefield Memorial Church in 1972. In 2013 it changed its name to the American International Church, since it was catering for approximately 30 different nationalities. Launched its Soup Kitchen in 1986, still serving (2024).

At the American Church this image, which shows the 1957 Whitefield Memorial Church, still on the site today, is captioned "Artist's impression of the new church designed by Mr E. C. Butler, LRIBA".
