Albert Charles Starr

Mayor of Bermondsey 1929-1930 and then for a period of 3 terms during WW2: 1941-44.

Our photo shows a group of officials from the United States during their tour of the Civil Defence Services at Bermondsey, inspecting members of a decontamination squad. Starr is the one with the jewellery. The photo is dated 2 August 1941.
