Michael Winner

Film director, producer and restaurant critic. Born 40 Belsize Grove. Directed 42 movies, including Death Wish in 1974, many of which were either panned or criticised for their violence and misogyny. His mantra "A team effort is a lot of people doing what I say" gives a taste of his personality and it comes as no surprise that in 2017 he was accused of historical sexual harassment.

Keen on law enforcement he was prompted by the death of Yvonne Fletcher to establish the Police Memorial Trust.

Died at his home in Holland Park, Woodland House.
