Our Picture Source gives much information about his life and confirms that he was born in The Manor House, Manor Street, Sneinton, Nottinghamshire. He was the 4th of the six children of Samuel Morley (1730-1776) and Mary Morley née Hardy (1733-1798).

He died, aged 79 years, on 10 May 1848 and was buried on 19 May 1848 in the Bunhill Burial Ground, City Road, London, EC1.
