Caution - Proceedings will be taken by the vestry against any person or persons wilfully damaging the clock tower. By order, Wm. F. Dewey, Vestry Clerk, Vestry Hall, Upper St. N.

{Plaque laid into the east face of the plinth:}
Presented to the Islington Vestry by Alfred Hutchinson in celebration of the sixtieth anniversary of the reign of Her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Victoria, 1897.

 All four sides sport a low relief portrait of Queen Victoria in wreathed roundels half-way up.

2022: Chris Odams contacted us to say that his father (who was in a long line of builders) told him that Chris's great grandfather, W. W. Odams, had constructed the steps (and presumably foundations) for this clock tower.  We cannot corroborate this but suggested we post the query here. We will forward any replies to Chris.
