London County Council William Richard Lethaby, 1857 - 1931, architect and first principal of this school in 1896 - 1911.
On this site stood Emanuel Hospital, founded 1594 by Lady Dacre, re-established 1883, as Emanuel School.
None of these four plaques are visible in our photo (and still this was the best position form which to take the photo!) all being hidden...
