Southall rail crash - memorial garden

Inscription

On Friday September 19th 1997 at approximately 1:15pm a high speed Swansea to Paddington train collided with a freight train at Southall. 7 people were killed and 139 injured.

This stone gives thanks to all the emergency services, British Transport Police and members of the Southall community who courageously gave comfort, support and sympathy to the injured and dignity to the dead.

May God bless you all.

The plaque is just inside the garden.

Site: Southall rail crash (3 memorials)

UB2, Merrick Road, Memorial Garden

July 2023 - We have now visited the site 3 times, but on each occasion the garden has been padlocked. We found the two other memorials close to the gate but for the photo of the plaque with names we are grateful to the BBC. The "Southall Rail Crash Memorial Garden" was marked on Google Maps with the note "temporarily closed". Prior to our third visit it was marked "open" - but it wasn't.
