Sam House

Inscription

{The two men are standing in front of a building which carries two labels in gold: "The Intrepid Fox" and below that "Sam House". The background man is holding a placard, positioned just below Sam's name, which reads "Champion of the people".
At the bottom right is inscribed:}
AD 1784

1784 is the date of the election when the publican supported Fox's campaign.

Site: Sam House and Charles Fox (1 memorial)

W1, Wardour Street, The Intrepid Fox

Built in 1915 by W. Bradford & Sons.  In February 2008 the Fox is looking a little sorry for itself. We hope it will emerge from its renovation bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, boom-boom.  The excellent Ornamental Passions point out that, on the relief plaque, the man behind is Sam House and the man in front is Charles Fox.
