Plaque

Pinchbeck at St John's

Inscription

Christopher Pinchbeck, clock maker, 1670 - 1732.

Site: 8 Clockmakers' plaques (8 memorials)

EC1, St John's Lane, 33, Watchmaker Court

The plaques read left to right chronological by birth date. We've taken the dates on each plaque to be date of birth and date of death but a contact has informed us that this is not true for Dan Parkes (the most recent in the collection) - the second date for him is the date he retired. So now we are unsure what the second date signifies for the others.

This modern building sports a clock (of course) with Roman numeral hours and, on the side, "XXXIII" or 33, the street number.
