Plaque

Noel-Baker Peace Garden - gate

Erection date: 24/7/1984

Inscription

Philip Noel-Baker Peace Garden
This garden was opened on 24th July 1984 by Lord Fenner Brockway

Site: Noel-Baker Peace Garden - gate (1 memorial)

N19, Hornsey Rise, Elthorne Park Noel-Baker Peace Garden

The plaque is on the wall to the right of the gate, in our photo hidden by the bush.

A notice on the gate explains that the sections of railing that are being introduced into the wall around the garden are "enhancements".  An alternative view is that they are ruining the quiet seclusion of this peace garden. The notice also informs that the statue at the pond is a self-portrait by the sculptor.

See the Hiroshima and Nagasaki memorial for more info about the garden.

'Sesquicentenary' is such a great word - it's not even in the Microsoft dictionary. As you can work out it means the 150th anniversary.
