This door was softly opened and these spoken words startled him and came as if they were an answer: "Little Dorrit".

The quoted text comes at the end of Chapter 13 of 'Little Dorrit' by Charles Dickens, the 'him' being Arthur Clennam. The Victorian Society have an illustration of the scene.
