This tablet is erected in proud memory of members of Highgate Camp who gave their lives in the Great War.

We understand that at least 13 of these names are also on the memorial cross at the United Reform Church.

The two plaques are inside the porch facing each other. The one to J. Dawbarn Young himself, facing north, seems better protected from the weather.

This roofed gate structure is known as a lich (or lych) gate and is normally found at the entry to churchyards where it was used during funerals as a temporary shelter for the bier.
