Evans & Raj

Erection date: 3/9/2000

Inscription

Friendship tree
In loving memory of the late Lt Gareth Evans & Sgt Balram Raj, two Gurkhas of the British Army, died in service in Kosovo on 21 June 1999.
Dedicated by NFOC(UK) & NKF(UK) on 3rd September 2000, Ealing Green.

From the BBC report of the deaths: "...the first Nato fatalities since the alliance began peacekeeping duties in Kosovo. Gurkhas were among the first Nato troops to enter Kosovo as part of the international peacekeeping force K-For."

We imagine NFOC and NKF were sub-groups of Nato K-For (Kosovo Force).
