Plaque

Bond Street

Erection date: 1/5/1986

Inscription

This plaque was laid on the first of May 1986 by HRH the Princess Margaret Countess of Snowdon in the presence of the Lord Mayor of the City of Westminster to commemorate the quatercentenary of the City of Westminster & the tercentenary of Bond Street.
Presented by Goldenberg & Company.

The "Lord Mayor of the City of Westminster" was present but no name is given.  In Westminster the Mayors change over in May, the month of the event, so, not being certain which one it was, we've linked in both of them: Bramble and Mallinson.

2019: We thank Stuart Goldenberg who wrote to tell us that the Mayor attending at this event was Bramble.

Site: Bond Street (1 memorial)

W1, New Bond Street

The plaque is in the pavement of the pedestrianised section of Bond Street, between Clifford Street and Grafton Street.

June 2017: We passed through this junction and saw that it had been totally cleared so it could be dug up. It'll be interesting to see whether this plaque, or the statue, get replaced.
