Painter and boat builder. Born at 31 Cheyne Walk. His father was J.M.W. Turner's boatman. His most famous painting is 'Hammersmith Bridge on Boat-Race Day'. Although a colleague of Whistler, he fell out of favour and died in obscurity in the West London Hospital, Hammersmith.

Walter Greaves
Greater London Council Walter Greaves, 1846-1930, artist, lived here 1855-1897.
Painter. Born Rome. A late-comer to the Pre-Raphaelite style, his subject matter was often Arthurian legend or Greek mythology. Died at his home in Hall Road.
Mural painter active in 1985. Married to Ray and helped complete the Dalston mural after Ray's death.
