Veronica Maudlyn Ryan was born on 22 August 1956 in Plymouth, Montserrat, according to the Prabook website. She moved to London with her parents Cyril & Eleanor Ryan when she was an infant and now lives between New York and Bristol. Her Wikipedia page gives much information.

She married Paul Hayden Chevannes in New York, USA and they have two daughters, Zahra and Paloma. The London Gazette shows that she was appointed as an Officer of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2021 Queen's Birthday Honours list for services to art. Her name is shown as Veronica Ryan on the Windrush Fruit memorial in St John's Gardens, Mare Street, E8.

December 2022: Veronica Ryan won this year's Turner Prize.
