Spencer Walpole

Sir Spencer Walpole KCB, FBA was an English historian and civil servant.

The son of Spencer Horace Walpole he was descended from one of the brothers of Robert Walpole. Through his mother he was a grandson of Spencer Perceval.

He came into the free possession of Pitzhanger Manor in 1900 when Frederika, the last aunt on his mother's side, died. He sold the house and the grounds to Ealing Council.

The grounds were developed into a public park, named Walpole Park in his honour.
