Playwright, screenwriter and director. Born in St Leonards-on-Sea. Best known for his stage plays including 'Plenty', 'Racing Demon' and 'Amy's View'. He has also written the scripts for many television plays and films. He has received two Academy Award nominations for best adapted screenplay for 'The Hours' in 2002 and 'The Reader' in 2008.
