Explosives officer with the London Metropolitan Police Service. Previously he was in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, and had worked his way up to the rank of captain. He was called to attend to a suspicious package found in a doorway of a branch of K-Shoes in Kensington Church Street, which contained a bomb with an anti-handling device. Goad attempted to defuse it, but it exploded, killing him instantly. He was awarded the George Cross posthumously.
