Maria Nieves Larracoechea was born on 3 March 1949 in Bilbao, Spain.

Both our Picture Source and the Clipper Crew website gives more information about her including that she was known as 'Nieves' to her friends and her employment commenced with Pan American World Airways in 1971.

She died, aged 39 years, on 21 December 1988 whilst working as a flight attendant aboard Pan AM Flight 103 travelling from London (Heathrow) Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York City, when it exploded over Lockerbie, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. She was survived by her husband, Frank Rosenkranz, her mother, and her brother Francisco, and sister Marina. The Wikispooks website confirms her date of birth and that her home address had been Castello 83, Madrid 28006, Spain.

She is also commemorated on both the Memorial to all the Victims and the World Wings International plaque that are at Dryfesdale Cemetery, Dumfries Road, Lockerbie, DG11 1HZ, as well as on the memorial cairn in Arlington National Cemetery, 1 Memorial Avenue, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA, on which she is shown as Maria Nieves De Larracoechea.
