Junior Telfer

"Everest Telfer Jr - ”Jay” to everyone who knew him - was a stalwart of the arts scene in Trinidad and Tobago, and a loyal patron of the Trinidad and Tobago film festival. ... When in 1965 a local activist called Rhaune Laslett approached Jay to ask for help in organizing a Notting Hill Carnival, Jay got the neighbourhood’s merchants on board and raised the funds so she could hold it outdoors. He also recruited his close chum Peter Minshall, then working in the theatre, to design a band for the streets."

He was at the meeting referenced on Brian Henderson's page (allowing for a Telfer/Telfor spelling discrepancy).

At its source this photo is captioned: "Photo caption: Jay Telfer, in turban, at a film festival screening. Seated on the right is his wife, Ruth Telfer".
